How to get the.C2V file of the SENTINEL HASP SL or HL (Virtual key or USB device)? The TAISARUSEN.exe file is used to collect all the information about the SENTINEL HASP HL or SL, for example, the version of the MP program (Basic, Professional or Enterprise) or the amount of licenses acquired. Quick Steps

  1. On the client computers, download and install the latest FARO® Software.
  2. Check the HASP driver and RUS version numbers on the server and client computers. They should match.
    • If they are the same, skip this step and continue to step 3.
    • If the server is not running the same version as the client computers, on the server uninstall the existing HASP driver and RUS, then download the matching HASP driver and FARO RUS versions and install them on the server.
  3. On the server, use the RUS and create a .C2V file. Email the file to the automated license update system for your FARO software.

  6. On the client computers, run the software.

Overview

If you recently received a notice to upgrade your FARO software, have recently upgraded your FARO software and are receiving error messages that prevent you from running the software, or you recently renewed your warranty, you may need to update the software license keys on the license server. To do this, you create and email a .C2V file and send to the FARO automated license system. Once your email is received, the system sends you an email with a matching .V2C file attached. Applying this file updates the license keys stored on your license server or on the dongle attached to your license server.

To create a .C2V file, use theFARO Remote Update System (RUS) tool. Before you begin, make sure you already have entered the product keys you have or, if you are using a dongle, make sure it is properly connected to your server's USB port.

Caution: The HASP license driver and RUS version numbers used on the server and on each client must match to avoid licensing errors. The latest FARO software always uses the latest HASP license driver. When FARO upgrades software, check the version of the HASP driver and RUS on the server. You may have to upgrade them.

Note: A network-enabled dongle can be attached to a network server or any computer on the network that can function as a license server. Virtual license servers may or may not have a physical USB port and depending on the server, may not be able to use a license key dongle.

On Client Computers, Download and Install the Latest FARO Software

  1. On each client computer, check the Microsoft Windows operating systems compatibility.
  2. Download the latest FARO software on the client computers. Search this knowledge base for the download article for your FARO software.
  3. Double-click the FARO software setup.exe file and follow the prompts to install the software.
  4. When the installation is complete, do not open the FARO software as it cannot yet access the remote keys.

On the Client Computers and License Server, Check the HASP Driver and RUS Version Number

  • On the server and on each client computer, check the HASP driver and RUS version numbers . They should match.
    • If they match, skip this section and continue to Create a .C2V File
    • If the server is not running the same version as the client computers, on the server uninstall the existing HASP driver and RUS, then download the matching HASP driver and FARO RUS versions and install them on the server. On the Server, Create a .C2V File

  1. On the server, open the RUS.
    If you used the default location when you installed and configured the license server, the RUS is located here: C:/FaroRUS/FaroRUS.exe
    The RUS window appears.
  2. On the Collect Status Information tab, select Update of existing protection key, and click Collect Information. The Select Sentinel Protection Key dialog box appears.
    • If you only use one product key or dongle on this computer, click OK and continue to the next step.
    • If you usemultiple product keys or dongles on this computer, for FARO or any other vendor's software, select the product/license key that applies to your FARO software and click OK.
    Note: Under Key Type, HL- stands for hard lock--a license key stored on a dongle.
    SL- stands for soft lock--a product key stored in the software on your computer.
  3. In the Save Key Status As window, navigate to the location where you want to save the .C2V file, enter a File name, and click Save.
  4. The RUS dialog box appears with a success message when the process is complete.
  5. Locate the .C2V file and attach it to an email to the FARO automated license update system.
    • For As-Built, send the email to licenses@faro.com
    • For BuildIT, send the email to support@builditsoftware.com
    • For CAM2 2018 or later, Measure 10 and Q, send the email to licenses@faro.com
    • For Faro Zone, send the email to regional FARO Support
    • For SCENE, send the email to scene-licensing@faroeurope.com
  6. The automated system sends you an email reply with an attached .V2C file. If you do not receive the .V2C file from the automated system within half an hour, contact FARO Support.

Apply a .V2C File

Once you receive the automated email with the .V2C file, use the RUS to apply the file. If you use a dongle, make sure it is properly connected to your computer's USB port before you begin.

  1. On the server, save the .V2C file attached to the email you received from the FARO automated license update system.
  2. On the server, open the RUS. If you used the default location when you installed and configured the license server, the RUS is located here: C:/FaroRUS/FaroRUS.exe. The RUS window appears.
  3. Click the Apply License Update tab and click to navigate to the location where you saved the .V2C file.
  4. In the Select the file to apply window, click All Files (*.*), select the .V2C file, and click Open.
  5. Click Apply Update.
  6. A success message when the process is complete.
  7. On the client computers, open your FARO software.
    If a license error messages appears, contact FARO Support.

Using Sentinel Admin Control Center

Generate C2v File For Hasp Keys

Go to http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html. If this site is not available then the HASP driver is probably not installed on the system.
On this page you will see the Sentinel Keys available to the system. The example below shows a USB hardlock key connected to the system.
At the end of each key record there is a C2V button. Click this button to download the C2V file.

Using DRES RUS utility

To create a C2V file using the DRES RUS utility you need to have:
  • The correct HASP driver installed on the system.

Check if the HASP driver is installed by opening Sentinel Admin Control Center at http://localhost:1947/_int_/about.html.
If you have an existing key that needs to be updated, go to the Sentinel Keys menu at http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html and check that the key is shown in the list of keys presented. Keys delivered by DrAmaT have a vendor ID value of 97150. If the key location is not Local it cannot be updated. In that case move the key to the current system or update the key using the remote system.
If all is OK start the RUS utility executable file and go to the Collect Status Information tab.
